• Comparison of average salaries at SFU with those across Canada
  How does your average salary compare to those across Canada? Assistant Professors have done well over the last few years; Associate Professors average salaries have never done well; Full Professor average salaries relative to the rest of Canada have done poorly. The AVERAGE salary at the Full Prof level at SFU is (barely) above the Canadian average in 2008! Our relative standing in 2009 appears to be worsening. We are well behind faculty in sister universities of comparable size and quality.

  The picture is worse when the MEDIAN salaries are compared, i.e. the middle salary. The MEDIAN salary is less influenced by the CRC salaries, etc. The median salary is where 1/2 of the faculty are paid above this value and 1/2 are paid below this value. The median salary of Full Professors at SFU lags behind that of Windsor, and Manitoba!

  Data for Lecturers is unavailable because of the small sample sizes and the disparity in definitions across Canada where different Universities coded salary information differently. For example, here at SFU, Instructors were coded as Lecturers.
