Math 251 Lecture 07: Wednesday, September 22nd 1999.
The subject of today's lecture was Quadric Surfaces, which
are covered in section 11.6 of the textbook.
We explored the geometry of ellipsoids, hyperboloids of one
and two sheets, elliptic cones, elliptic paraboloids,
hyperboloic paraboloids (saddles), elliptic cylinders, and
parabolic cylinders.
Extensive use was made of 3-D plotting in
Maple.
