Math 232 Overall Mid-Term Exam Marks

The overall mid-term exam mark is based on the best two out of three mid-term exams. However, adjustments had to be made in order to create a level playing field between the three exams, due to their differing distributions of marks. In order to do this, the letter grade-cutoffs for mid-term exam #1 were taken to be the standard, and the marks for mid-term exams #2 and #3 were adjusted upwards, so that the assigned letter grade cutoffs would agree for all three exams.

After adjusting the mid-term exam marks, the average of the best two out of three exam marks for each student was taken, and normalized to be out of 30 points. The results are summarized in the following histogram:
