January 5, 2014 Dear Mr. Smith, I am writing this reference letter in support of Mr. Joshua Sykes, who is applying for a position as a Software Engineer in your company. I met Joshua as a student in Math 310, a third-year undergraduate class that I taught at Simon Fraser University during fall semester 2012. Joshua received an A+ grade in my course, which was one of the top few marks in a strong class of 150 students. He submitted all of his homework assignments on time and had a consistently high performance on all tests and assignments. Unfortunately, I didn't have an opportunity to interact with Joshua on a personal level, and so I cannot provide any more specifics. His performance in Math 310 suggests that he has strong quantitative and problem-solving skills that should be of significant benefit in a technical position such as the one he is applying to. I am happy to recommend Joshua to you. Sincerely yours, John Stockie. |
