The exam has 11 problems. The percentage figures
above refer to the number of points being awarded
in each section.
Compared to your midterms, you have more than three times
as much time for doing essentially twice as many problems.
Please note the following
-
You must present your student ID card, or a passport, or a driver's
license.
-
You may bring two pages of handwritten notes;
-
For all questions you must clearly indicate how you
arrived at your answer.
-
partial credit is only guaranteed for questions or parts of
questions where the phrase "SHOW (YOUR) WORK" occurs
-
where "SHOW (YOUR) WORK" appears full credit will only be given if
what is written convinces the markers that a correct method has
been used
-
some partial credit may be offered for answers to questions where
"SHOW (YOUR) WORK" does not appear; all students will be treated
equally in this respect but it is not possible to be more precise
about this until the marking of the exam is complete
-
you cannot expect credit for answers which are the correct answers
to different questions.
-
when you are asked to stop writing, it is important that you
immediately do so. If you continue to write, a substantial
penalty may be imposed!
If you attend the lectures you know that my way of presenting the
material differs at times from the text. The exam questions
reflect this approach. Make sure to have a look at the
sample exam (previous midterms).
