Facilities

The Summer School will take place in the PIMS facility at Simon Fraser University. This is located in rooms 8510-8514 of the TASC 2 Building at SFU (Burnaby Campus). This facility includes both a lecture hall for classes as well as a computer lab.

Accepted participants from outside the Vancouver area will be offered on-campus housing in the SFU dormitories free of charge. Meals are not included, but there are many affordable dining options both on-campus and in the neighbouring residential community Univercity.

Getting to SFU

It is not difficult to get to SFU using public transit from the airport, and for those with a manageable amount of luggage we suggest you follow the transit directions here: Getting to SFU. Because of some road work, when you get off the bus you will be on the east side of campus. To get to the dorms (on the west side of campus) you can either walk or you can wait for an outgoing bus (any route) and take it to the "University Dr at W Campus Rd" stop. Details on how the road work is affecting the bus routes. Another possibility for those with a large amount of luggage is to take the skytrain from the Airport to Waterfront and then to get a cab (these are easily available and should cost around $30).

Checking into the Dorms

To check in to your dormitory, you will next go to the Residence and Housing Office (778-782-4201) which is located in the Residence Administration Building, highlighted in the map below. Regular check-in is usually from 3pm-4:30pm, but SFU Guest Accommodations does try to accommodate requests outside that window if you let them know (in particular, they do accommodate late arrivals and try to accommodate early check-ins). See their FAQ for some useful information. You will need proper picture ID for check-in.

Finding PIMS

All of the program activities will take place at the PIMS site which is located in the TASC2 building. This is indicated on the map below.
